Award winning design & communications.

I love design, noise and food. I'm attracted to all that is sensuous and to satisfy this need I constantly seek new and potentially challenging environments.

I'm obsessed with information and technology, digesting hours of news, music and culture daily which influence my creativity. I'm the founder of (now Melbourne based) creative studio Third Cache and, while largely self-taught, co-wrote a university eMedia course in 2011. I've since gone on to formalise my fourteen years experience with a Masters Degree in Communications.

I've been playing with my food, creating noise and making a mess my whole life. This drove my family crazy, but they have quietened down (a little) since people started giving me bits of paper saying I was pretty good at making 'junk look the kuda steez' (My words for whatever it is that I do).

Now I makes louder, deeper noises and bigger messes with the rag-tag collection of toys in my home studio. An otherworldly place where even in the kitchen turntables and zataar coexist.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a small local company looking for your first logo, or a larger business about to rebuild your online platform, it pays to have someone on your team who speaks the language and can ensure you’re guided safely through the often confusing world of design & it’s many outliers.

What does good design cost?

From an elegant business card to a large scale communications campaign, good design and clear communication shouldn't be an expensive, dark art.

What does good design cost?

From an elegant business card to a large scale communications campaign, good design and clear communication shouldn't be an expensive, dark art.

Design is a lot more than a few colours and shapes thrown together on a page. And good communications is more than yelling the loudest. But if you're here reading this then you probably already know that.

But what should good design cost and how much is too much or too little to pay for your design?

Unfortunately there is no hard and fast rule however there are a few questions you can ask yourself before you undertake a design or communications project.

  1. What is the purpose of this project?
To inform? To sell? To educate? To influence? or simply to beautify?
  2. Do I expect to make money or spend money?
  3. Is this purely digital (a website), purely physical (a mural or installation), or a combination of both (a corporate identity)?

How can I help you beyond a logo? Here are some brief case studies.

Below I've compiled three case studies to help illustrate how design thinking can assist your business. This is often going beyond what the client has asked for to offer a left-of-centre solution.

STREAT Ltd.

Cookbook, Rebrand & Digital Strategy (Including SQ&A)

Melbourne Social Enterprise STREAT is a company very dear to my heart. In a nutshell they run hospitality businesses as a way of funding programs to help disadvantaged youth. Beginning as a volunteer I quickly emerged myself in STREAT-life (sorry) and have assisted their communications dept in a variety of ways.

USC

2011 eMedia Curriculum

I was very fortunate to be asked to come and work with the eMedia students at USC. What began as a guest lecture turned into a 7 week stint. Seven weeks then turned into me co-authoring a new, future-focused, curriculum over the summer only be asked to come back and teach it the following year. It was, quite frankly, the experience of a lifetime.

30 Under 30

Awarded #2 Specialist

B&T, the communications industry trade-rag, awarded me the number two specialist position in the 2014 30 Under 30 Awards and I couldn't be more honoured.

I've read (and will continue to read) B&T for years because they are the best at what they do. For them to consider me was validating and humbling.
